SHOP NAME: When you play the game of cribbage, if you get the right (correct suit) jack, you get a bonus point toward your total. That is where the name originated for my business of making cribbage tables.
INSPIRATION: I designed the first cribbage table almost 20 years ago for my Mother. As she got older, she had trouble playing on the small back and forth track cribbage boards. She would ask "what street am I on?" I decided to make her a large board with a continuous play track so she wouldn't have to go back and forth and "get lost." Next, I wanted large pegs and holes to make it even easier for her to see where she was, and where her opponent was. My goal was to make it easy for her to enjoy the game of cribbage that she loved to play. I ended up making the board so large, that it naturally lent itself to becoming a table. She was so thrilled with her cribbage table! It was supposed to be one of a kind, a labor of love. Many who saw it wanted one. I declined, but my Mom asked me to please make some for her friends.
That was the humble beginnings of The Right Jack. Today this is my small business. Its what I hope everyone can experience in their lives, doing something you really enjoy and sharing it with others. My cribbage tables have been in art galleries, high end gift stores and juried art shows.
My wife, Susan, makes all the custom, hand painted personalized signs in our shop as well as beautiful wreaths, beach theme wall mirrors, fabric gift bags, wedding decor & accessories. We love working side by side!
